First and foremost, we want to express our deep gratitude for your continued patience, support, and trust in Newton-Rider. We know that many of you are eagerly awaiting the delivery of your helmets, and we fully understand the importance of timely communication and transparency during this journey.

 

As many of you know, Newton-Rider has set itself a bold and ambitious mission: to create the world’s first semi-soft and flexible bicycle helmet offering linear protection. This is not a small task. For more than 30 years, bicycle helmet technology has remained largely unchanged, primarily relying on rigid EPS (expanded polystyrene) foam designs. At Newton-Rider, we believe that real innovation is long overdue — and we are committed to leading that innovation, even when it means navigating new technical and regulatory challenges.

 

The safety of our users is our highest priority. To meet the internationally recognized EN 1078 safety standard — which all bicycle helmets in Europe, Japan and many other markets must comply with — we have conducted extensive testing under a wide range of conditions:

• Flat anvil impacts (standard linear impacts)

• Curbstone anvil impacts (to simulate real-world angled impacts)

• Extreme temperatures: -20°C and +50°C

• High humidity and moisture conditions

 

We are proud to share that after two full test cycles conducted throughout June, the results are extremely promising:

Our helmet demonstrates between 24% and 52% better impact absorption than the EN 1078 threshold levels.

 

This means that the helmet not only meets the required safety standards, but in many cases, exceeds them by a significant margin — validating the enormous potential of our semi-soft and flexible design to offer better protection, especially in scenarios related to concussion risks and rotational forces.

 

That said, these excellent test results also come with an important responsibility. We are now in the final phase of making precise adjustments to ensure that every production unit consistently delivers the same high level of safety and quality. Every detail matters — from materials and assembly processes to long-term durability and certification compliance.

 

While we originally hoped to begin deliveries earlier, we firmly believe that taking the extra time now is the right decision. Cutting corners or compromising safety is simply not an option when it comes to protective gear designed to safeguard lives.

 

Our current forecast is that deliveries will begin in the second half of 2025.

We are making excellent progress and feel confident about this schedule, provided that the final validation steps go as smoothly as we expect.

皆様には長らく製品の到着をお待ちいただいており、心より感謝申し上げます。同時に、進捗状況について十分なご説明ができていなかったことをお詫び申し上げます。

 

Newton-Riderは、「世界初のセミソフトかつ柔軟性を持つ、リニアプロテクション搭載の自転車用ヘルメット」の開発という大きな挑戦に取り組んでおります。従来のヘルメットは、約30年間ほとんど技術革新が進んでおらず、硬質なEPSフォーム（発泡ポリスチレン）素材に頼り続けてきました。私たちはそこに新たな可能性を見出し、「より安全で、より革新的なヘルメットを世の中に提供したい」という強い想いで開発を進めています。

 

もちろん、この革新には高い技術的・品質的ハードルが伴います。私たちは製品の安全性を最優先に考え、国際的な安全規格であるEN 1078（日本・欧州等で使用される自転車用ヘルメット規格）への適合を目指して、徹底した検証試験を重ねてまいりました。

 

以下のようなさまざまな条件下での衝撃テストを実施しています：

 

• フラットアンビル（通常の直線衝撃）

• カーブストーンアンビル（実際の転倒時に近い斜め衝撃）

• 極端な温度（-20℃ 〜 +50℃）

• 高湿度環境下

 

 

今年6月に実施した2度目のフルスケール試験では、EN 1078基準を24%〜52%上回る非常に優れた衝撃吸収性能が確認されました。

これは、セミソフトで柔軟性を持つ新しい構造が、脳震盪（コンカッション）や回転衝撃など、実際の事故で想定されるさまざまな状況において、非常に高い保護効果を発揮することを裏付ける成果となりました。

 

こうした試験結果を受け、現在は最終調整・生産準備の最終段階に入っております。すべての製品が量産でも安定して最高の安全性・品質を維持できるよう、細部にわたり慎重な確認と改良を進めております。

 

当初の予定より納品時期がだいぶ遅れてしまっておりますこと、改めて深くお詫び申し上げます。しかしながら、安全性・品質を最優先するという判断は、私たちの揺るぎない信念であり、今後何年にもわたって皆様に安心してご使用いただける製品をお届けするために不可欠なプロセスと考えております。

 

現時点では、2025年後半（H2）にお届けを開始できる見通しとなっております。

引き続き全力で生産準備を進め、最新の進捗は都度ご報告させていただきます。
